ABOUT THE COMPANY – STANDARD BANK

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED, COVERAGE VALUE & SELECTION

The Standard Bank 150 bursary programme was established in honour of the banks 150th anniversary in 2012. Bursaries will be awarded for undergraduate and postgraduate studies within the following fields:
  • Economics
  • Business and Management Studies
  • Computer Science
  • Information Technology
  • Information Systems
  • Mathematics
  • Quantitative Management
  • Statistics
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Mechatronic Engineering

The bursary, administered by the StudyTrust, provides full-cost sponsorship, including tuition fees; prescribed books; stationery; laptop computer; accommodation in residence or equivalent private accommodation; meals and transport (4 trips home per annum, at the value of a bus ticket).
Students will be required to undergo psychometric evaluation and interviews before final selection is made.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
Undergraduate students:
  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying full time within one of the aforementioned fields of study (currently in 1st year)
  • Studying at a recognised South African tertiary institution
  • Strong academic record
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in the latest exams
  • Proven financial need
  • *Preference will be given to students at the following universities: University of Johannesburg, University of Pretoria, University of the Witwatersrand, University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch University, Rhodes University and the University of KwaZulu-Natal
Postgraduate students:
  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying or registering to study full time towards a postgraduate qualification within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Studying at a recognised South African tertiary institution
  • Strong academic record
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in the latest exams
  • Proven financial need
  • *Preference will be given to students at the following universities: University of Johannesburg, University of Pretoria, University of the Witwatersrand, University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch University, Rhodes University and the University of KwaZulu-Natal
