This university officially opened on September 15, 1989. The Gene Louw Traffic College is a property of the South African government initiated by the Western Cape government and administered by the Department of Transportation and Public Works of the Western Cape Province. Located in Brackenfell, Cape Town. Gene Louw Traffic College offers training programs in traffic law enforcement for traffic officers (TO), driver’s license examiner (EDL), vehicle examiner (EOV) and several other short courses.
Since its inception, Gene Louw Traffic College has been providing training programs for traffic officers, municipal police, vehicle examiners and driver’s license examiners in the Western Cape Province, South Africa and other parts of southern Africa (for example, Botswana).
Around November 2013, Gene Louw Traffic College received the Certificate of Excellence as the Best Traffic Training Center nationwide at the Road Traffic Management Corporation conference in East London. Training of traffic officers
Training for traffic officers is a qualification for traffic officers permanently employed by provincial and local authorities after completing the training. The transit officer will be awarded a Certificate of Education and Training (FET): Application of the traffic law once the program is completed. The training program contract is 1 year (12 months).
The course consists of 31 unit standards that cover topics on the National Road Traffic Law (NRTA), the Criminal Procedure Law and the guidelines for the application of the road traffic law. Everything you will learn in the training of traffic officers is as follows:
– Participate in a sustained oral / signed communication and evaluate the spoken / signed text.
– Represent, analyze and calculate shapes and movements in spaces of 2 and 3 dimensions in different contexts.
– Adhere to professional conduct and organizational ethics.
– Demonstrate knowledge of the Firearms Control Act of 2000 (Act No. 60 of 2000) applicable to the possession of firearms.
– How to drive and use
– Represent, analyze and calculate shapes and movements in spaces of 2 and 3 dimensions in different contexts.
– Adhere to professional conduct and organizational ethics.
– Demonstrate knowledge of the Firearms Control Act of 2000 (Act No. 60 of 2000) applicable to the possession of firearms.
