About Avusa’s Learnership
Avusa Learnership is presented annually by the Avusa Media department of Times Media to people from different fields. This learnership is part of the national skills development of the
Government, which aims to create skills for job creation to reduce poverty. This training is offered under the auspices of the Sectoral Education and Training Authority (SETA).
Avusa Media, originally known as Johnnic Communications, was acquired by Mvelaphanda Group and renamed the Times Media Group in 2012. Publications and services under this trademark include magazines such as Computing SA, Elle, Financial Mail, SA Mining and Soccerlife; newspapers like The Sunday Times, The Times, The Sowetan, Sunday World, Daily Dispatch and Business Day. The group also owns several community newspapers, publishers, retailers and a record label.
The Times Media Group offers graduates 12 months of internship training in the journalism program as well as contact center education.
Contact Center Learnerships is open to those who have the necessary qualifications to study for the Continuing Education and Training (FET) Certificate in Contact Center Industry, NQF Level 4. People with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.
The learnership consists of both practical and theoretical training in a call center environment. As a trainee, you will learn how to do this through correction and human development in human, secure detention or community correctional supervision.
This contact learning training center gives you the opportunity to learn the skills you need to work in a call center, as well as gain an in-depth knowledge of the behavior, respect and attitudes you need in any workplace. This combination will facilitate future employment.
Students earn a scholarship for the duration of their studies.
Requirements for Avusa Learnership
To be eligible for the Avusa Learnership, there are certain requirements:
Qualifications
– You must have a standard 10/12 class certificate; or
– Must have an NQF Advanced Education and Training Certificate (Level 4); or
– Successful national certificate in professional studies (NQF Level 4)
– Good communication skills
– Basic computer skills
– Average typing skills
Other requirements
– You must be a South African citizen
– Applicants must be between 16 and 30 years of age
– You must be motivated and detail oriented
Preference will be given to suitable candidates who will complement the diversity of Times Media.
The FET certificate contact center operations, NQF level 4
Operation of the FET Certificate Contact Center, NQF Level 4
It is results-based learning accredited by Services SETA and is based on a legally binding agreement between the employer, the learner and the service provider.
The learnership program is for one year (12 months) and consists of:
Theory
The percentage of training will consist of theory. This training will take place in a classroom atmosphere and will consist of:

– Theoretical training will include business communication, customer service and other training
– Formal and informal coaching class
– Six interactive skills programs
– Each skills program requires proof of the portfolio (POE) of all your work
Work place Training
The remaining percentage of training is practical on-the-job training and will include
– Duties related to work performed by a call center agent
– Six interactive skills programs
– Formal and informal coaching class
After successfully completing both the theoretical (training) and practical (practical) phases, submitting the Final Evidence Portfolio (POE) and passing an external exam, you will receive a FET certificate in contact center operations, NQF Level 4.
The learnership contract is a legally binding contract and any breach or violation of the terms of the contract will be dealt with in accordance with sections 97, 17 and 18 of the Skills Development Act 1998.
Avusa learnership application process
To apply for the contact center learnership, you must complete the application form with your handwriting.

Once you are on the site, search for and click on the “Career” link at the top, then look for the “Learnership” link.
Click on the “Learnership Application Form” link and the form will be automatically downloaded to your computer
When applying for training, be sure to specify the learning position in which you apply (for example, Times Media Contact Center Learnership)
Make sure you sign the application form yourself
Attach certified copies of your certificates and ID (this must be certified within the last 3 months; you can do so at any police station)
If disabled, include a confirmation letter with a doctor / clinic / hospital

Please note:

– Late or unsigned application forms will not be accepted
– Copied forms will not be accepted
If your application is selected for selection, you will be invited to a panel interview.
Remember that during your practical training you will be responsible for your own accommodation, transport and food costs. It is therefore recommended that you apply for training in the region or area closest to your place of residence.
